Ph.D. Seminar Presented by a Student in the Department of Biology

Ph.D. student Zahraa Tariq Abdulhamid from the Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Mosul, delivered a seminar in the field of Microbiology on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Haj Qasim Hall, in the presence of a number of faculty members and postgraduate students of the department.

The seminar was entitled:

“Isolation of Plastic Degrading Bacterial Strains from Mosul Environment – Iraq”

The seminar focused on the isolation and identification of bacterial strains capable of degrading plastic materials from various environments in Mosul. The study highlights the environmental significance of such microorganisms in reducing plastic pollution and providing sustainable biological solutions for plastic waste management.

This seminar was presented as part of the requirements for the completion of the student’s Ph.D. dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Israa Ghanim Hazim Mohammed. The session featured productive scientific discussions that contributed to the further development of the research.
