Department of Chemistry Holds a Workshop on Liquid Chromatography Applications, Stereochemistry, and UV–Visible Spectroscopy

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science held a scientific workshop on the morning of Monday, 27/4/2026, as part of its continuing education activities, with the participation of a group of academic staff and researchers.

The workshop addressed the applications of liquid chromatography as one of the important techniques in pharmaceutical organic synthesis, through the use of chiral separation columns capable of separating enantiomeric organic compounds, determining their correct configuration, and assessing their purity. It also highlighted the concept of chirality and its relevance to modern pharmaceutical industries.

The workshop was delivered by:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Azzam Ahmed Mohammed
  • Professor Dr. Ammar Hussein Abdullah

This workshop comes within the department’s efforts to enhance scientific knowledge and keep pace with recent advances, thereby supporting scientific research and serving the community.

Best wishes for continued progress and prosperity to our academic staff.
