The Department of Earth and petroleum Sciences holds a faculty meeting on the occasion of the start of the final exams

Within the framework of the keenness of the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul to upgrade the educational process and enhance scientific and research activities, and on the occasion of the start of the final exams for the academic year 2025/2026, the Department of Earth and petroleum Sciences held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a faculty meeting chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar khalouq Mohammed Sajid, head of the department, and assistant professor Dr. Saddam Isa Mustafa, rapporteur of the department, in the presence of faculty members.

The head of the department opened the meeting by welcoming the faculty members, praising their efforts exerted in the academic and research fields, stressing the importance of the periodic meeting to exchange visions and ideas and discuss ways to develop educational and research performance in the Department.

The agenda of the meeting included the discussion of a number of key topics, most notably:

The conduct of the final exams and the mechanism of observations and their distribution to the examination halls, with emphasis on official time and confirmation that no leave is granted to teachers during this period.

Accreditation requirements and their axes, in addition to laboratory accreditation.

Summer training courses for third-stage students.

Follow up the needs of students and provide the necessary support to ensure an ideal learning environment to complete graduation requirements.

The meeting also discussed a set of proposals aimed at developing curricula in line with modern developments in the field of Geology, and enhancing cooperation with departments and research centers inside and outside the University.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Department confirmed that the department is going ahead with its ambitious plans to upgrade the academic and research level, in order to enhance the status of the college and the university locally, regionally and internationally, calling on teachers to redouble efforts to achieve these goals.
