The Department of Chemistry, College of Science, will, God willing, hold the PhD dissertation defense of Asir Ihsan Abdullah Mahmoud Al-Afandi, entitled:

“Estimation of Meteorin-like Protein in Patients with Atherosclerosis.”

The dissertation aims to develop and apply accurate biochemical and analytical methods to determine the level of Meteorin-like protein in the blood serum of patients with atherosclerosis and investigate its relationship with other biochemical markers. The study seeks to enrich research in clinical biochemistry and identify novel biomarkers that may contribute to a better understanding and early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

The defense will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Prof. Dr. Yousif Abdullah Shihab Discussion Hall, Department of Chemistry.
