The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of science holds four scientific seminars for graduate students

The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, held four scientific seminars for graduate students, in the presence of a number of department teachers and graduate students. The seminars included a presentation of outstanding research projects for Master‘s students, as follows: The first seminar: for the master’s student in Microbiology, the news of Muhammad Iqbal, entitled: “Prevalence of Virulence Genes among Major Pathogens Associated with Ventilator-Associated Infection” The seminar dealt with the study of the prevalence of virulence genes in the most important pathogens associated with infections associated with artificial respiration devices, which contributes to the understanding of the genetic factors associated with the pathogenicity of these isolates, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim al-Taie. The second seminar: for the master’s student in zoology Zubaida Mohammed Abdullah Meri, entitled: “The role of administration of chemical doses in patients with gastrointestinal cancer using hematological and chemobiological indicators” The seminar dealt with the study of the effect of chemical doses on a number of hematological and biochemical indicators in patients with gastrointestinal cancer, in order to assess the changes associated with treatment and follow-up the health status of patients, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed Hassan. The third seminar: for the master’s student in Botany Abdul Rahman Ziad Tarek Ahmed, entitled: “Inhibition of the growth of fungi isolated from food and producing more than one type of mycotoxin” The seminar dealt with the study of the efficiency of some transactions in inhibiting the growth of fungi isolated from food, especially species capable of producing more than one type of mycotoxins, because of the health and environmental risks, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maha Akram Muhammad Ali. The fourth seminar: for the master’s student in Botany Sumaya Khazal Ismail Majid, entitled: “The role of mycorrhiza in the activation of induced plant immunity against fungal diseases” The seminar dealt with the study of the role of mycorrhiza fungi in enhancing the mechanisms of resistance and immunity in plants and stimulating their response against fungal diseases, which supports the trend towards the use of sustainable biological means in crop protection, under the supervision of assistant professor Dr. Anfal Moayed Jalal al-Din Suleiman. These seminars came within the requirements of the completion of graduate students in the department, as they witnessed constructive scientific discussions and valuable interventions from the audience that contributed to enriching research topics and developing them to serve the scientific career. We wish our dear students continued excellence and success in their scientific career.
