A teacher from our college participates in the publication of a scientific research on the assessment of the water quality of the Mosul University Lake in an international journal indexed within Scopus

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed Al – Jubouri, teaching at the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science-University of Mosul, participated in the publication of a joint scientific research with researchers from the University of Mosul and the northern Technical University, in the international scientific journal Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, specialized in aquatic biology and Environmental Sciences, indexed in the Scopus database with classification Q4. The title of the research was: “Assessment of Mosul University Lake Water Quality Based on Physical, Chemical, and Biological Characteristics” “Evaluation of the water quality of the Mosul University Lake depending on the physical, chemical and biological characteristics“. The aim of the research was to assess the water quality of the Mosul University lake by studying a set of physical, chemical and biological indicators, including temperature, electrical conductivity, dissolved solids, salts and chemical elements, as well as estimating the numbers of macro-and coliform bacteria, in order to detect spatial and temporal changes in water properties and assess its environmental condition. The results of the study showed that there are clear discrepancies in some of the studied characteristics between the sample collection sites and different months, as well as an increase in the numbers of total bacteria exceeding the reference limits approved in the study, which confirms the importance of periodic monitoring of microbial, physical and chemical indicators to ensure the safety of the aquatic ecosystem. The importance of the research is highlighted in providing scientific data that contribute to assessing the environmental reality of Mosul University Lake, supporting water quality monitoring efforts and early detection of pollution indicators, in a way that promotes sustainable management of Water Resources and Biodiversity Conservation. This achievement comes within the efforts of the Faculty of science teachers in promoting joint scientific research, employing Applied Studies in addressing environmental issues, community service and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We wish the professors of our college continued success and giving
