Discussion of a master’s thesis in the College of Science
A master’s thesis entitled “A Study of the Effect of the Magnetic Field on Some Blood Parameters of Leukemia Patients in the Laboratory” was discussed in the department of Physics on Tuesday, the 31st of January, 2023, attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the dean’s assistants, the department head and a number of the college academic staff. The study submitted by the student (Shaima Haitham Zaki Al-Qadi) dealt with conducting a study on patients with blood diseases (acute and chronic leukemia) for ages ranging from (4-70 years) for both genders, as the groups were exposed to a cumulative magnetic field for a different period of time and for different doses.Measurements conducted on male and female patients with acute leukemia for ages (4-70 years) showed a significant decrease when compared with the control group in the number of red blood cells and platelets at the dose (0.1, 0.5, 0.7T), while there was a significant increase in the number of blood cells When exposed to the magnetic field at the dose (0.4T) in the measurements of blood parameters for ages (4-70 years), the female measurements showed a greater effect than the male measurements for the same dose that exposed to the cumulative magnetic field. The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Salah Abdel Ezzo, Assistant President of the Technical University in Dohuk, and the membership by each Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Abdel Jawad Abdullah and the lecturer Dr. Ziyad Thanoun Dawood, and under the supervision of each of the Assistant Professor Dr. Mazen Ahmed Abd Ghazal and the Assistant Professor Dr. Qusai Khattab Omar Al-Dulaimi.
