On Monday, April 7, 2025, the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, University of Mosul, held the defense of a master’s thesis titled:
“Production of Biodiesel from Waste Cooking Oil Using Heterogeneous Solid Base Catalysts Derived from Eggshells and Evaluation of Fuel Properties of Biodiesel-Diesel Blends”
presented by Baraa Abdul Kareem Suleiman Al-Taie.

The research focused on developing eco-friendly catalysts from waste eggshells and using them in the production of biodiesel through transesterification of non-edible oils. The study also evaluated the fuel properties of various biodiesel and diesel blends.

The session was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the Head of the Department, faculty members, and graduate students.
