A teacher from the College of Science / University of Mosul receives a PhD from the University of Tikrit

On the morning of Sunday, September 14, 2025, the College of science at Tikrit University witnessed the discussion of a doctoral dissertation tagged ” polymorphism of single nucleotides of some genes and description of intestinal microbes related to autism spectrum patients and severity ” presented by researcher Jassim Mohammed Yassin, teaching at the Department of Medical Physics – College of Science / University of Mosul.
The discussion took place in the discussion Hall in the presence of the discussion Committee and a number of teachers, students and interested people.
The thesis dealt with the study of genetic and microbial factors associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a variety of symptoms and genetic causes. The study included the analysis of the CNTNAP2 and ATP2B2 genes, along with a comprehensive description of the intestinal microflora and assessment of liver enzyme levels in children with autism spectrum disorder in the city of Mosul compared to the control group.
The results of the research reviewed the potential role of these factors in the early diagnosis and finding future treatment strategies for autism spectrum disorder, within the framework of recent developments in genetic and microbial studies.
