Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Ibrahim, and under the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, the follow – up of the head of the Department of chemistry, prof. Dr. Salam Jassim Mohammed, and within the continuing education programs, a scientific course entitled” analysis of heavy elements in various models” was held for the period October 21-27, 2025, delivered by Dr. Rana Abdul Malik and Dr. Hana Shukr Mahmoud and M. Redhead Yunus and M. M. It included four specialized scientific lectures that dealt with the definition of heavy elements, their qualities, nomenclature, their location in the periodic table, methods of their extraction and analysis in various models, in addition to the sources of water, air and soil pollution, their presence in children’s toys, household cleaners, cosmetics and their possible health effects. The session also clarified that the irrational use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, industrial and consumer waste disposal, and mining operations are among the most prominent sources of water and soil pollution by heavy elements.

We wish our students to teach full-time and be creative in their academic and research career in order to serve the community and protect it from the harms of chemicals.
