College of Science

Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow-up of the head of the Department of chemistry, prof. Dr. Salem Jassim, the Department of chemistry organized a scientific visit to Salah al-Din company for light and complementary industries with the participation of professors and students of the fourth stage in the Department of chemistry.

The visit aimed at enhancing the practical side of the students through field inspection of the production lines and working mechanisms in one of the National factories specialized in plastic industries, and included a detailed explanation by the company’s staff about the mechanism of production of blown polystyrene (Cork) of various densities and sizes, in addition to familiarizing with the stages of cutting the product and casting molds to obtain the final shapes of products. The steps for the production of household plastics in various colors and sizes were also explained, with the characteristics of the materials involved in manufacturing and methods of controlling their quality.
