Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mohammed Brahimi, and the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow-up of the head of the Department of Medical Physics, Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Mohammed Fakhri, and within the continuing education programs, the Department of medical physics organized a workshop entitled (Drug Addiction and its impact on the individual and society), on on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the opening of the seminar hall in the department, Dr. Sumaya Adnan Saleh Mohammed, attended by a number of students and teachers of the Department.

The workshop dealt with the definition of the types of drugs and the impact of each type on the physiology and functions of the brain and other body tissues, and explained the downsides of drug use from the health and psychological consequences and causes of aggressive behavior and material losses for the addicted person, in addition to economic losses and deterioration of productive capacity, Health and education of individuals and society in general. They also discussed the reasons that lead people to use drugs, especially the youth and adolescents, in order to avoid these reasons and find appropriate solutions and guide them towards positive programs to protect individuals and society from the abyss of drugs.

Our wishes are to teach full-time in a way that serves the community, fights addiction and protects our children from its dangers.
