Scientific workshop entitled ” forensic Botany”

Under the patronage of the blessing of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and the follow-up and presence of the head of the Criminal Evidence Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Luqman Shahab, and within the continuing education programs, the A scientific workshop entitled” The Science of forensic Botany ” on Thursday, December 4, 2025, delivered by Assistant L. Rasha Mohammed Saleh from the Criminal Evidence Department and Assistant L. Sarah Nazar Ghanem from the Research Hospital at the University of Mosul, and attended by a number of department teachers.

The workshop dealt with the relationship of plant parts such as pollen, seeds, leaf remnants and others in criminal detection because of its importance and direct contact with the victim, which is considered one of the signs that cannot be easily detected because they are microscopic in size and remain for decades on the bodies and easy to move on clothes, hair and other body parts and is also considered a time indicator to detect the time of the crime, the workshop was met with a wide interaction from the Masters present.
