Permanent presence of the College of Science in all social activities and forums

Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, dean of the College of science, participated in the activities of the Sixteen Days campaign to combat violence against women in Mosul, an annual Global Initiative held between November 25 (international day for the elimination of violence against women) and December 10 (international human rights day) .

Where a delegation from the University of Mosul, headed by the president of the University, professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and accompanied by the assistant president of the University for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Rafel Hassan Hamid, and a large number of officials and dignitaries from judges, lawyers, university presidents, college deans, program providers and human rights activists, attended the event, which is held in cooperation with the Association of Iraqi women judges and the Supreme Judicial Council – This campaign aims to raise awareness of forms of violence against women and girls everywhere, support the efforts of governments and civil society organizations to combat this violence, and also to encourage the enactment and implementation of laws protecting women.

A dialogue session was held among the guests to discuss the manifestations of violence, the role of society and the judiciary in protecting women, strengthening the justice system, legal and social means.it dealt with multiple axes that focused on the importance of community awareness, activating protection laws and encouraging dialogue on issues of domestic violence and harassment and ways to reduce them.

The participation of Mrs. Dean came as a confirmation of the leading role of the University of Mosul in supporting national initiatives aimed at promoting women’s rights, as she stressed the commitment of our faculty to adopt such initiatives and work to develop effective programs aimed at reducing all forms of violence, in line with the vision of the University and its role in community service.

Our college has always been a voice with its imprint in all forums of support and against violence and attrition.
