Master thesis discusses the spectral estimation of amiloride hydrochloride and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride

The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science / University of Mosul discussed on Sunday, January 11, 2026 the master’s thesis submitted by student Malik Khalil Khader Tamou Mohi from the analytical chemistry branch, tagged ” spectral estimation of amiloride hydrochloride and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride in their pharmaceutical preparations ” .
The thesis aimed to develop innovative spectroscopic analytical methodologies characterized by simplicity, accuracy, high sensitivity, in addition to being fast and environmentally friendly, to estimate the substances amiloride hydrochloride and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride in their pure solutions and pharmaceutical preparations.
The first part of the study involved the development of an indirect spectroscopic method for estimating amiloride hydrochloride based on its interaction with the dye eosin Y in an acidic aqueous medium, where the method showed high accuracy and sensitivity, as well as its compatibility with the principles of green chemistry, and was successfully applied to pharmaceutical tablets with the assessment of their environmental impact using the GAPI and analytical environmental scale indicators.
The first method relied on the azo coupling reaction to form a stable dye in an aqueous medium, and was characterized by its accuracy and ease of application without the need for organic solvents or expensive reagents, while the second method was based on cloud point extraction using Triton X-114 with color fastness, and showed high reliability and the possibility of routine application in Analytical Laboratories. The results of the environmental impact assessment also confirmed the compatibility of both methods with the principles of green chemistry in terms of reducing environmental impact and using safe and low-cost materials.
The discussion committee consisted of :
Prof. Dr. Nabil Sabeeh Othman Khader (chairman)
Dr. Hana Shukr Mahmoud Ahmed (member)
Teacher Dr. OS Messer najras Khalil (member)
Assistant professor Dr. Lamia Adnan Naguib sarsem (member and supervisor)
We wish our dear students and our esteemed professors good luck, scientific giving and service to the academic career.
