Registration of three new bacterial strains in the NCBI global gene bank

Within the achievements of the College of Science / Department of Biology Sciences, a distinguished research team headed by Dr. Zakaria Sami Abdul Razzaq and with the participation of students of the graduation project for the fourth stage, Haneen Yaqzan Rafiq and Sajjad Fadel Yacoub, achieved an important scientific achievement represented in the registration of three bacterial strains belonging to the species Pseudomonas koreensis and P. gessardii and P. putida, after being isolated and diagnosed from raw milk samples circulating in the local markets of the city of Mosul.
The genetic sequences of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene of the diagnosed strains have been documented and officially deposited in the global gene bank (NCBI) under the names zakhansaj, zakhansaj2 and zakhansaj3, respectively, where the Pseudomonas koreensis isolation was given the Access number (PX795319), and the P isolation. gessardii access number (PX795326), while the isolation of P was granted. putida access number (PX833596).
In this context, the Deanship of the College of Science and the chairmanship of the Biology sciences department appreciated the outstanding scientific efforts exerted by the research team, expressing their pride in this qualitative achievement, which reflects the level of scientific competence of the Department’s employees and contributes to enhancing the status of the college scientifically and research, and stressing their continued support for every sober scientific work that serves the community and develops the scientific research process.
We wish the research team and our dear students continued brilliance and success.
