The scene of seminars for graduate students of the Department of chemistry

In order to enhance scientific research and exchange academic experiences, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, two seminars for doctoral students in biochemistry were held in the discussion hall, at 12:30 pm, in the presence of a group of teachers and graduate students.

PhD student Raghad abdelmoujed Mohamed Hammou presented her branded seminar:

“Assessment the Biochemical Role of Fabkin in Atherosclerosis Patients”

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zeina Abdel Moneim Al-Jawadi, in which she discussed the biochemical role of Fabkin protein in patients with atherosclerosis and its potential importance in understanding the development of the disease and its diagnosis.

PhD student Walaa Farouk Abbas also delivered her seminar entitled:

“Isolation and Evaluation of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) Enzyme and Its Relation to Some Biochemical Variables in Colon Cancer Patients”

Under the supervision of a. M . Dr. Mohammed Bahri Hassan Al-Sadoun, during which she reviewed the isolation and evaluation of the enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and the study of its association with some biochemical variables in colon cancer patients. COX-2 is an induced enzyme associated with inflammation and colon carcinogenesis. The activity of the enzyme concentration was estimated, its relationship with the relevant biochemical indicators was analyzed, in addition, it was partially isolated and purified using appropriate biochemical techniques and its approximate molecular weight was determined.

Our wishes to our dear students the continuation of scientific and academic progress
