Research Team from the Department of Biology Registers a New Bacterial Isolate in the NCBI Database

A research team from the Department of Biology, College of Science, has successfully registered a bacterial isolate in the database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) as part of its academic research activities.
The research was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Enas Abdulmunem Al-Laila, with the participation of graduation project students Fatima Rashid, Rahaf Rawi, and Hind Yaqoub.
The registered bacterial isolate belongs to the species Aeromonas caviae. It was isolated from lettuce samples collected from local vegetable markets in Mosul and identified using molecular techniques based on the analysis and sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene.
The genetic sequence was officially deposited in the GenBank database of the NCBI under the following accession number:
PZ345137.1
This achievement represents an important contribution to academic scientific research, supporting the documentation and global accessibility of molecular data related to bacterial isolates for researchers worldwide.
We wish our students and faculty members continued progress, success, and prosperity.
