The Department of Renewable Energy organized a specialized training course titled “Production of Low-Cost, High-Efficiency Solar Cells Using Simple Methods”, held from 19 to 27 April 2026 in Ibn Sina Hall at the department, with the participation of a group of academic staff, students, and researchers as part of the continuing education activities.

The course included two main components: theoretical and practical.

Theoretical part:
This part reviewed thin-film preparation methods and solar cell fabrication techniques, with a focus on spray pyrolysis and chemical bath deposition as simple preparation methods. It also discussed the key parameters affecting solar cell performance.

Practical part:
Participants received laboratory training on preparing thin films using the two mentioned methods, measuring the optical and electrical properties of the prepared films, then assembling a laboratory-scale solar cell and testing its efficiency.

The course also addressed the advantages and limitations of these techniques, as they are considered among the simplest and most cost-effective methods used in solar cell fabrication.

The course aimed to equip academic staff and students with modern practical skills to keep pace with technological advancements.
