College of Science Researcher Publishes Scientific Study in a Q1 International Journal

In a distinguished scientific achievement added to the academic record of the University of Mosul, the PhD student and lecturer in the Department of Geology and Petroleum, M. Aalaa Mahmoud Saeed Al-Wazzan, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Ismail Abdullah (Professor Emeritus) and Prof. Dr. Naserin Mallah Aziz, has published a high-quality research paper in the Journal of African Earth Sciences, classified as Q1 in Scopus and Q2 in Clarivate Analytics, and published by Elsevier.

The paper is entitled:

“Paleoenvironmental conditions across the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary from northern Arabia: Facies analysis, mineralogical and geochemical implications”

The study investigated the paleoenvironmental conditions of the Gajara Formation across the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary in northern Iraq, based on detailed facies analysis combined with mineralogical and geochemical evidence. Advanced analytical techniques were used to provide deeper insight into the geological evolution of the region.

This research was conducted in collaboration with researchers from the United States, Poland, and Germany, reflecting strong international scientific engagement and collaborative research efforts in this field.

This achievement represents an important contribution to strengthening scientific research and enhancing the college’s global publication presence.
