Scientific Visit for Medical Physics Students to the University of Mosul Natural History Museum

The Department of Medical Physics at the College of Science organized a scientific visit for first-year students to the University of Mosul Natural History Museum, accompanied by several faculty members from the department, on Monday, 13 April 2026.

The visit aimed to introduce students to the importance of the museum in enhancing their understanding of life sciences, particularly topics related to biodiversity and the history of living organisms. It also sought to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting biological species and natural ecosystems.

The visit included a guided tour through the museum’s galleries, where students explored a variety of exhibits featuring taxidermied animals, skeletal specimens, and other scientific collections. They also benefited from detailed explanations provided by museum specialists, which enriched their knowledge and offered valuable insights into the displayed materials.

This educational experience helped bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, while strengthening students’ observation, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Such activities play an important role in supporting their academic development and broadening their scientific perspectives within the field of Medical Physics.

The visit also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, through experiential learning opportunities, and Goal 15: Life on Land, by promoting awareness of biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability.

The College extends its best wishes to its students for continued success, progress, and prosperity in their academic journey.
