Department of Geology and Petroleum Sciences to Discuss the PhD Dissertation of Ms. Wiam Muzahim Abdulwahid Mohammed

With the grace of Almighty Allah, the Department of Geology and Petroleum Sciences, College of Science, University of Mosul, will hold the PhD dissertation defense of Ms. Wiam Muzahim Abdulwahid Mohammed for her dissertation entitled:

“Biostratigraphic and Sedimentological Study of Paleocene–Eocene Successions in Selected Subsurface Sections of Northeastern Iraq”

The dissertation aims to conduct a comprehensive biostratigraphic and sedimentological investigation of Paleocene–Eocene geological successions based on selected subsurface sections in northeastern Iraq. The study seeks to enhance the understanding of sedimentary evolution, reconstruct ancient depositional environments, and provide accurate geological data that support petroleum exploration and hydrocarbon prospecting activities in the region.

The dissertation defense will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, in Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Hamdani Hall, Department of Geology and Petroleum Sciences.

The examination committee consists of:

  • Prof. Dr. Nasreen Malla Allah Aziz – Chairperson
(College of Science, University of Mosul)
  • Prof. Dr. Zaid Abdulwahab Malik – Member
(College of Science, University of Mosul)
  • Assist. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Younis Ahmed Mohammed – Member
(College of Science, University of Mosul)
  • Assist. Prof. Dr. Muthanna Younis Mohammed Al-Dharab – Member
    (College of Science, Tikrit University)
  • Assist. Prof. Dr. Mahfouz Abdullah Ali – Member
