Joint Scientific Research by Faculty Member and Student from the Department of Biology Published in an International Scopus-Indexed Journal

As part of the distinguished scientific and research activities of the Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Mosul, a joint research paper by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed in collaboration with the student Mohammed Dawood Ibrahim, the top graduate of the evening study program for the academic year 2024–2025, has been published in the international journal:
Egyptian Journal of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, which is indexed in the Scopus database and classified as Q3.
The study is entitled:
“Study of the Water Quality of the Zab River in the Nimrud District, Nineveh Governorate, Iraq”
The research assessed the water quality of the Upper Zab River in the Nimrud District of Nineveh Governorate through a series of physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses conducted on water samples collected from different locations along the river.
The results indicated elevated levels of several environmental and microbial indicators beyond internationally permitted limits, highlighting the importance of continuous monitoring programs for water quality and the implementation of necessary measures to protect aquatic environments and public health.
This scientific achievement reflects the Department of Biology’s commitment to promoting rigorous scientific research and encouraging collaboration between faculty members and students, thereby enhancing publication output in reputable international journals and strengthening the academic standing of the University of Mosul.
