Coordination Meeting Between the College of Science Deanship and the Department of Chemistry to Strengthen Academic Accreditation Requirements, Final Examination Preparations, and Research Activities

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance and promote quality standards, the Deanship of the College of Science held a coordination meeting with the Department of Chemistry, chaired by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Rayan Mazen Faisal, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Adel Shareef, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Asst. Prof. Dr. Firas Ahmed Thanoon, and the department’s faculty members.
The meeting reviewed the current status of the Department of Chemistry regarding academic accreditation requirements. Discussions focused on measures aimed at enhancing the department’s readiness and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s vision of achieving institutional excellence and strengthening the scientific standing of academic institutions.
The participants also addressed preparations for the final examinations of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Emphasis was placed on providing a well-organized and equitable examination environment, addressing potential challenges faced by students, and ensuring the completion of course curricula according to approved academic plans in order to maintain the smooth progress of the educational process.
In another key agenda item, faculty members presented a number of observations and proposals aimed at further improving academic and scientific performance. The Dean expressed her full support for these initiatives, praising the vital role played by faculty members in enhancing educational quality. She also stressed the importance of increasing scientific publications in reputable journals and advancing research activities and academic promotion efforts, reflecting the department’s high academic standards and contributing to the improvement of both the College’s and the University’s rankings.
The Dean further emphasized that these efforts receive direct and continuous support from the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, who places great importance on supporting faculty members and researchers and encouraging their academic and scientific aspirations, thereby fostering a productive environment that promotes innovation and excellence.
This meeting forms part of a series of coordination sessions organized by the College Deanship with its academic departments to strengthen communication channels, promote a culture of quality, and create a supportive academic environment capable of keeping pace with modern scientific developments.
