Under the generous patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Biology, Professor Dr. Amjad Abdulhadi, and in line with the College of Science’s commitment to supporting scientific research, promoting the culture of sustainable development, and within the framework of continuing education programs, a scientific workshop entitled “Environmental Immunology and Its Impact on Humans” was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

The workshop was delivered by:

• Assistant Lecturer Nadia Khalid
• Assistant Lecturer Ibtisam Raad

The event was attended by the Department Rapporteur, a number of faculty members, and students of the College.

The workshop included an introduction to the concept of environmental immunology, environmental factors affecting immune system function, and the mechanisms through which these factors influence human health. It also addressed immune-related diseases in which environmental factors may act as primary triggers or contributing causes, particularly among genetically predisposed individuals whose conditions may worsen upon exposure to specific environmental influences.

The workshop concluded with a series of recommendations, including the importance of proper ventilation, balanced nutrition and adequate sleep, reducing exposure to harmful chemicals, maintaining safe exposure to nature and sunlight, avoiding smoking, and minimizing psychological stress.
