College of Science Women’s Affairs Committee Organizes a Workshop Entitled “Violence Against Women: A Societal Issue, Not an Individual One”

The Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, is organizing a workshop entitled:

“Violence Against Women: A Societal Issue, Not an Individual One”

The workshop will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, in the Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hamdani Hall at the Department of Earth and Petroleum Sciences.

The workshop aims to shed light on the phenomenon of violence against women as a societal issue that requires coordinated institutional and awareness-based efforts. It will address its psychological and social impacts, while also discussing effective approaches to reducing this phenomenon and promoting a culture of respect, equality, and mutual understanding within the university community.

The workshop will be delivered by:

  1. Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim
  2. Assistant Lecturer Elin Muwaffaq Khalil
  3. Assistant Lecturer Hiba Fares Ahmed
  4. Fatima Issam Al-Din Salah

The Committee invites faculty members, students, and all interested individuals to attend and actively participate in this important event in support of social justice, women’s empowerment, and the promotion of a safe, respectful, and inclusive university environment for all.
