College of Science Students Shine in Football Championship

The College of Science Football Championship at the University of Mosul kicked off on Monday, 2 February 2026, and continued until Wednesday, 11 February 2026, with broad participation from students representing the College’s various scientific departments. The tournament was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Hiyam Adel Ibrahim.
The championship reflected the College’s commitment to developing students’ physical and athletic skills alongside their academic excellence, while also promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
The tournament featured a series of exciting and highly competitive matches, which produced the following results:
- The Department of Chemistry defeated the Department of Physics 5–1.
- The Department of Forensic Science defeated the Department of Biology 5–1.
- The Department of Geology and Petroleum defeated the Evening Study Team 3–2.
- The Department of Medical Physics defeated the Department of New and Renewable Energies 3–0.
- The Department of Medical Physics defeated the Department of Chemistry 4–3 on penalties after a 2–2 draw.
- The Department of Forensic Science defeated the Department of Geology and Petroleum 1–0.
In the third-place playoff match, the Department of Chemistry secured a convincing 8–3 victory over the Department of Geology and Petroleum.
The final match brought together the Department of Medical Physics and the Department of Forensic Science. The game ended in a 1–1 draw, with the championship title ultimately awarded to the Department of Forensic Science following a 4–3 penalty shootout victory, amid a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The College Deanship commended the efforts of Dr. Othman Ahmed Al-Yas Abdulrahman, Head of the Student Activities Division, for his outstanding organization and direct supervision, which played a key role in the success of the tournament and reflected the College’s dedication to supporting student activities and fostering a dynamic university environment.
