Within the framework of scientific and academic cooperation between the faculties of the University of Mosul, assistant professor Dr. Warqa Saeed Qasim Mohammed, teaching at the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul, participated in the discussion of the master thesis tagged ” the biological effect of extracts and nanoparticles of Kiwi peels inhibiting Candida sp. Isolated from the mouth of babies”, presented by student Raya Salah al – Din Mohammed at the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of education for girls-University of Mosul, on Sunday, August 30, 2026 in the Graduate Studies Hall of the Department. The study aimed at the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Kiwi peel extract, evaluating their effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of Candida SP fungus. Isolated from the mouths of infants, contributing to the study of possible natural alternatives to reduce the etiology of candidiasis. The results showed that Kiwi peel extract contains six major phenolic compounds according to HPLC analysis, as well as the success of the process of green synthesis of silver nanoparticles, as spectral examinations and color changes showed the role of active compounds and vitamin C in Kiwi peels in reducing silver nitrate and forming stable and homogeneous nanoparticles. The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Saleh Mohammed Ismail Hassan from the Faculty of Agriculture – Tikrit University as chairman, and the membership of assistant professor Dr. Warqa said Qasim Mohammed from the Faculty of Science – University of Mosul, and teacher Dr. Inaam Jassim Mohammed from the Faculty of education for girls – University of Mosul, while Professor Dr. Abdul Karim Suleiman Hassan assumed supervision and membership of the committee. This participation comes as a confirmation of the distinguished scientific presence of the Faculty of science teachers and their contributions in supporting graduate students, enhancing academic cooperation and exchanging scientific experiences between the faculties of Mosul University.
