The dean of the Faculty of science, professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, in her capacity as deputy chairman of the committee of deans of science faculties at Iraqi universities, participated in the extended workshop held by the higher education and scientific research parliamentary committee in the Iraqi House of Representatives, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, to discuss the proposal of the civil higher education law. The workshop was attended by the president of the University of Mosul, Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, along with the heads of government and private universities and colleges, the adviser to the prime minister for Education Affairs, and representatives of a number of unions and related parties. The workshop dealt with a number of observations and proposals related to the draft law, especially those related to the organization of private higher education, administrative and financial powers, infrastructure, quality standards and academic accreditation, and the rights of students and teachers, in order to listen to academic and specialized opinions and contribute to the maturation of the law’s articles before completing legislative procedures. The participation of the dean of the Faculty of science comes within the framework of representing the faculties of Science in Iraqi universities and participating in the discussion of legislation related to higher education, and presenting academic and specialized visions and observations.
