Overview of the Department of New and Renewable Energy
The Department of New and Renewable Energy is one of the scientific departments in the College of Science at the University of Mosul. It was established in 2013. The duration of study is four years, after which the department awards a Bachelor’s degree in Energy and Renewable Energy Sciences. The program prepares students scientifically and methodologically, enabling them to keep pace with technological advancements in scientific research and to provide services to both the public and private sectors.
The department obtained programmatic accreditation for science disciplines from the national authority responsible for accrediting science programs in 2026, becoming the first department among all science college departments in Iraq to achieve this.
In addition, a postgraduate (Master’s) program was established in the Department of New and Renewable Energy in 2026, based on a ministerial order issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
