Workshop on Combating Extremism Held at University of Mosul

Under the patronage of the University of Mosul President, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Dr. Saad Ramadan Mohammed Al-Jubouri, a specialized workshop on combating extremism was held in the Quranic and Islamic Education Hall in cooperation with the Iraqi National Security Service.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the scientific and intellectual aspects of extremism, highlight its negative impacts on individuals and society, and emphasize the role of academic and security institutions in preventing and addressing it through evidence-based methods. Participants discussed promoting moderate discourse, building intellectual awareness among various community groups—particularly youth—as key pillars for a safe and stable society.

Key topics included defining extremism and its social and ideological causes, the role of educational institutions in fostering citizenship and moderation, collaboration between universities and security agencies, and practical strategies to prevent the spread of extremist ideas. The event saw active engagement from faculty and students, who underscored the importance of continuing such initiatives to promote awareness, enhance intellectual security, and support national efforts toward peace and coexistence.
