A Delegation from the University of Mosul meets the Governor of NinevehA delegation from University of Mosul headed by Professor Dr. Hazem Dhanoun Ismail, dean of the College of Education for Humanities visited the Governor of Nineveh on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. The delegation conveyed the sincere congratulations extended by the President of University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmady, to the Governor on the occasion of the National Day, and also for the dedication and efforts he exerts to serve the city.The head of the delegation presented, on behalf of the President of University of Mosul, a painting representing the archaeological wall of Nineveh prepared byProfessor Prof. Dr. Fawaz Hamid and the Lecturer Asmaa Khalid Jarjes to the Governor of Nineveh Mr. Najim Abdullah Al-Jibouri.The visit aims to explain and discuss the university’s proposal to rehabilitate the Nineveh Wall, because it is considered the historical impact of the ancient city of Nineveh and it also highlights its historical features.The delegation proposes also to exploit the available spaces near the Wall and turning them to green areas, to be an internal and external tourist attraction that provides economic gains for the city.In light of this visit, the Governor presented a proposal to refer the Wall project submitted by the University to the donor.The governor also suggested that the rehabilitation of the Wall project to be a collaborative work between Governorate of Nineveh, University of Mosul, and Nineveh Archeology Inspectorate.
