The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Mosul Discusses a master’s Thesis on the Divorce of Queen Catherine of Aragon from King Henry VIII

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Mosul held a master’s thesis defense titled “The Divorce of Queen Catherine of Aragon from King Henry VIII in 1533,” submitted by Ali Amin Mahmoud Taha Al-Ukaydi.

The session was attended in part by the Head of the Department and several esteemed faculty members.

The thesis explored one of the most prominent events in 16th-century Europe—the divorce of Queen Catherine of Aragon from King Henry VIII of England. This event marked a critical turning point, serving as the spark that ignited the English Reformation. Ultimately, it led to the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church and the establishment of an independent national church. This made the event a significant historical milestone in the evolution of European Christian history.

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Khalil Ali Murad, and included:

  • Prof. Dr. Abbas Abdul Wahab Ali
  • Lecturer Dr. Noor Awni Abdul Rahman
The thesis was supervised by and also included in the committee:
  • Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saleh Aboush
