Scientific Workshop in Mechanical Engineering Department on “Recycling Used Automotive Oils”

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul, and in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Department of Mechanical Engineering at College of Engineering, University of Mosul, organized a scientific workshop entitled “Recycling Used Automotive Oils” on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The workshop was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Anas Obaid Idris, Lecturer Ghaida Ibrahim Hussein, Lecturer Omar Abdulrahman Mohammed, Lecturer Noor Al-Din Saleh Khudur, and Assist. Lecturer Yousif Salem Mahmoud.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of recycling used automotive oils and utilizing them as a resource suitable for reuse. It also addressed modern methods for collecting, treating, and refining used oils, in addition to highlighting the environmental and health impacts of improper disposal. Furthermore, it demonstrated the role of mechanical engineering in developing modern technologies and methods for recycling used oils.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of proper used-oil management, raising environmental awareness, and encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices that contribute to environmental protection, pollution and waste reduction, optimal resource utilization, and the advancement of sustainability and circular economy principles.
