Awareness Lecture on “Drugs and Stimulants”
Within the awareness lectures that are part of the scientific efforts to provide people with adequate psychological immunity to prevent the dangers of inappropiate and harmful behaviours for their abusers, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ghafour Al-Qattan (Assistant Prof. in Biochemistry Branch / College of Medicine at University of Nineveh) gave a lecture entitled “Drugs and Stimulants” on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 via (FCC Conference) platform, directed to College of Engineering’s students to raise awareness of the danger of addiction in general, which it defined as Painkillers, Stimulants, and Hallucinogens.He said that among the causes of addiction comes first bad friends and then frustrating the school or family or a person accustomed to relieve pain, and to identify the general symptoms of addictionhas identifieddepressionand strange reactions indicating that the effect of addiction:appears in reducing proteins production, increased stimulation for cancers, depression, frustration and other, even stimulus to think about committing suicide, as well as irreversible genetic changes even with addiction recovery.He concluded his lecture by indicating that sports Stimulants including Creatine and Energy Drinks are so dangerous taken without right consultation.
