A group of Lecturers from Department of Architecture Engineering participated in symposium on “Architecture and Society” held by the Catholic University in Erbil, which was opened and attended by Dr. Riyadh Francis (President of the Catholic University), and a group of professors of Iraqi architecture, including Prof. Mahmood Baker Khayyat, Prof. Butrus Khamo and Prof. Jinan Khamo.Assist. Prof Miqdam Amin (Head of Department of Architecture Engineering at the University of Mosul), presented the opening research which dealt with the theorists’ proposals about the determinants of the relationship of mutual influence between architecture and society. In addition to the participation of Dr. Khawla Fayyad Mahmood, Dr. Basam Al-Hafidh, Mr. Ashraf Hafoudhi, Mrs. Maysaa Mowafaq and Mrs. Rawya Dabdoob with a number of research papers which highlighted many problems related to the architecture, society and proposed solutions.The President of the Catholic University wished this meeting to be the beginning of scientific cooperation between the two departments of architecture at University of Mosul and the Catholic University.
