Ph.D. dissertation on ” Smart System Design For Load Shedding to Enhance The Stability of A Power System “
Ph.D. dissertation was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Smart System Design For Load Shedding to Enhance The Stability of A Power System ”, submitted by (Shawkat Mohammed Younus), Supervised By Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani A. Abdul Ghafour as First Supervisor and Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Sharaf Al-Deen Yehya as Second Supervisor, on Tuesday, Nov., 5, 2024.
The dissertation aimed to “Design intelligent load shedding programs to enhance the stability of the power system, by identifying the exact disturbance that has occurred and optimal load shedding using intelligent algorithmic control”.
The dissertation discussed “The recent power outages have highlighted the urgent need to upgrade UFLS with more flexible and responsive methods to ensure energy reliability under emergency conditions. The current schemes, which are mostly deterministic and ignore real-time system dynamics and disturbances, are inadequate in critical situations for modern power systems”.
The results showed ” The proposed hybrid system, consisting of central and decentralized schemes, has demonstrated its effectiveness and reliability in performing load shedding at optimal values under various operating conditions and restoring system stability”.
