Ph.D. dissertation on ” Optimum Design and Evaluation of Wideband Low Noise Amplifier for Modern Communication Systems”
PH.D dissertation was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Optimum Design and Evaluation of Wideband Low Noise Amplifier for Modern Communication Systems ”, submitted by (Serri Abd AL Razzaq Saleh Mahdi), Supervised By Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Khalil Mohammed as first supervisor and Assist. Prof. Dr Mohammad Tariq Yaseen as second supervisor On Thursday, Nov., 14, 2024.
The thesis aimed to Design different topologies for LNA on broadband from 3 to 6 with 5 GHz center frequency, Use ADS simulation to verify practical results, Compare LNA technologies and topologies to determine each method’s advantages and disadvantages, and achieve and improve noise figures as best as possible by adding components or changing the structure.
The dissertation discussed ADS software was used for the initial design, and an action point for transistor AFT-36077 GaAs pHEMT was identified, Depending on the data sheet where Idss=10mA and Vds=1.5 achieve 15db gain and noise figure 0.5dB. On this basis, resistors were added in the drain and gate side, and to achieve stability, RLC feedback, then add matching input and output circuit to reduce return losses S11(-19.127dB), S22(-31.970dB) and improve the gain (8.389-9.902)dB, Mu(1.503dB), Nf(2.186dB)These results when the design is composed of T-line.
The results showed the design was converted into a schematic design to be ready for the PCB stage and the dimensions were (28.25*14.5 mm) and a low noise amplifier with a value of (1-0.7 dB) was achieved over a wide frequency range (3-6 GHz).
