Master thesis in Department of Electrical Engineering on ” Design and Implementation of Sustainable Healthcare Applications based on Green Wireless Communications Network “

A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Design and Implementation of Sustainable Healthcare Applications based on Green Wireless Communications Network”, submitted by (Amina Ghassan Abdullah), Supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Tariq Yaseen Hussein and Assist. Prof. Dr. Firas Sami Haseeb Sami On Wednesday, February, 26, 2025.
The thesis presented by “Amina Ghassan Abdullah” , aimed “ to design a sustainable system for healthcare, particularly patient monitoring application that monitor a patient in a remote area and successfully fulfilling the application requirements in terms of delay and received data reliability using an enhanced communication network that depends on flexible and reliable WiMAX system. Moreover, this work suggests three techniques (the renewable energy sources, energy harvesting, and data compression methods) to support the concept of sustainability from communication network and MIoT device point of view” .
The thesis discusses “ The suggestion of using of green wireless communications through applying a self-power WiMAX infrastructure to transfer the data between the patient site and the healthcare center for nine e-healthcare applications. In the context of sustainability, the adopted technology exploits the solar system as a renewable energy source to feed the wireless communication network (WCN) infrastructure. While in the patient site, the energy efficient methods were applied to support meeting the applications requirements ” .

The results showed “ The latency is improved to be 0.7 msec and the received data reliability reaches to 100% while the energy harvesting contributed in feed 95.62% of each of the MIoT device basic components after compress the video data to 33.3 % ” .
