Continuing Education Course in Civil Engineering Department on “Fundamental Concepts of Traffic Control for the Road Network in Mosul City”

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul—and in alignment with its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals— Department of Civil Engineering organized a Continuing Education course titled “Fundamental Concepts of Traffic Control for the Road Network in Mosul City” held from July 20 to July 24, 2025.
The course was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon, Dean of College of Engineering; Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Talib Hameed, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs; and Professor Dr. Moataz Abduljabbar Al-Obaidi, Head of Civil Engineering Department.
The course was delivered by Professor Dr. Ayman Abdulhadi Ahmed and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Hamodi.
The event began with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of city of Kut—may God grant them eternal peace and grant their families patience and solace.
During the course, engineers and personnel from the Ninawa Traffic Directorate / Department of Road and Traffic Sign Engineering were introduced to the basic principles of studying and controlling traffic movement within road networks, methods of traffic management, and strategies for addressing congestion. The course also covered analysis of driver violations, accident causes and evaluation techniques, along with scientific and technical responses to transportation-related issues. These were discussed through interactive dialogues and exchanges between field experts and professionals.
The course specifically targeted engineers and staff from the Ninawa Traffic Directorate / Road and Traffic Signs Engineering Department in Mosul City.
