College of Engineering at University of Mosul Honors Its Distinguished Researchers in Support of Innovation and Sustainable Development Goals

As part of University of Mosul’s commitment to supporting scientific excellence and innovation, and within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), College of Engineering organized an honoring ceremony for its distinguished researchers on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The event was held under the patronage and presence of President of University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and was supervised and attended by Dean of College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, along with members of College of Engineering Council.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the Dean, in which he expressed his pride in the research efforts of the faculty members and their leading role in enhancing the scientific and research reputation of the college. This was followed by an opening address delivered by the University President, who emphasized the importance of scientific research as a fundamental pillar for societal development and the building of a knowledge-based economy. He praised the initiative of the College of Engineering and the efforts of its outstanding researchers.

During the ceremony, certificates of appreciation and symbolic gifts were awarded to the distinguished researchers who had published high-quality scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to addressing contemporary engineering and societal challenges.

This event aligns with the College of Engineering’s ongoing commitment to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

  • Goal 4: Quality Education – by encouraging scientific research and fostering an academic environment that promotes innovation and knowledge.

  • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – by supporting research projects that contribute to the development of infrastructure and sustainable engineering solutions.

  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by enhancing research collaboration with local and international academic and industrial institutions.

The College of Engineering at the University of Mosul affirms that this recognition is not merely a celebration of achievements, but a message of encouragement and motivation to every researcher striving to serve science and society.
