Publication of a New Research Paper in Electrical Engineering

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul, and in its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 4 “Quality Education” and Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure”—a new research paper in the field of Electrical Engineering has been published by Assistant Professor Dr. Omar SharafalDeen Yahya Al-Yuzbaki, in collaboration with PhD student Anas Thamer Mustafa, on August 27, 2025, entitled “Forecasting Energy Demand and Generation Using Time Series Models: A Comparative Analysis of Classical, Grey, Fuzzy, and Intelligent Approaches.”
The paper appeared in Franklin Open, a newly launched open-access journal published by Elsevier and indexed in Scopus (Q3).
This study provides a comprehensive comparative analysis of time series models for forecasting energy demand, consumption, and generation, based on 80 reviewed studies and eight predictive approaches. It highlights the latest research trends, offers both quantitative and qualitative classifications of forecasting models, and proposes an effective framework linking data characteristics to model performance, thereby supporting researchers and policymakers in selecting the most suitable models under specific contextual constraints.
