Training Course on “Green Concrete: Solutions for Achieving Sustainability in the Construction of Concrete Structures”

Within the framework of its scientific activities and in line with University of Mosul’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities— Department of Civil Engineering at College of Engineering organized a training course entitled “Green Concrete: Solutions for Achieving Sustainability in the Construction of Concrete Structures.”
The course was held from September 21 to 25, 2025, and was designed for faculty members and engineers of the College of Engineering.
The program aimed to familiarize participants with the concept of green concrete, alternative sustainable materials, their impact on concrete properties, and their role in reducing environmental pollution.
Lectures were delivered by Assistant Professor Rana Burhan Abdulrahman (course supervisor), Dr. Nadia Sadiq Ismail, Lecturer Zina Adel Mohammed, and Assistant Lecturer Rafaa Dali Hamad.
The course program included an introduction to green concrete and its components, global trends to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete, and the use of waste glass powder as a partial substitute for cement in concrete mixtures.
