Training Course in Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering on “Water Projects in Iraq: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions”
As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at the University of Mosul, and in line with its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering organized a training course titled “Water Projects in Iraq: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions” for the period from October 26 to October 30, 2025.
The course was directed toward faculty members and engineers of the College of Engineering.
The course aimed to discuss the current status of water projects in Iraq, the challenges they face, and to present scientific and engineering solutions that support sustainable water resources management.
Lecturers in the course included Asst. Prof. Azza Nasrallah Jarallah (course supervisor and lecturer), Dr. Abdulaziz Abdulbasit Mohammed, Lecturer Noor Idris Abdulqader, and Asst. Lecturer Ahmed Abdulhamid Ahmed.
The program covered several key topics, including the water situation in Iraq, current challenges, water quotas and their impact on irrigation efficiency and resource sustainability, modern technologies for water resource development, and methods for protecting water resources.
