A master’s thesis discussing environmental pollution and its effects on some biochemical and physiological parameters of individuals in different environmental regions.

Under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Technologies, Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, the College of Environmental Sciences and Technologies discussed the master’s thesis entitled (The impact of environmental pollution on some biochemical and physiological parameters of individuals in different environmental areas (urban and rural)) by the student Raneen Muhammad Yahya Al-Sharifi.

The study took place in the city of Mosul (an urban area) and Al-Sheikhan district (a rural area) for the purpose of investigating the effect of continuous exposure to environmental pollutants on the health of individuals living in urban and rural areas, to find out the negative effects of these pollutants by studying their effect on some blood components, biochemical variables and their effect on functions. Liver, kidney, thyroid, and male sex hormones in individuals living in urban and rural areas.
The study aimed to determine which of the biochemical and physiological variables in people within the studied areas is most closely linked to environmental pollution and to adopt it as a vital indicator for detecting pollution when exposed to it in the future.
The study recommended studying the impact of radioactive pollution on individuals in the field of work and comparing it between urban and rural areas, studying the impact of environmental pollution at the molecular level, investigating excreted heavy metals, as well as radioactive wastes and treating them, in addition to studying the impact of environmental pollution on fat stored in the body and studying the impact of environmental pollution on Fertility in females, in addition to studying the effect of environmental pollution on respiratory enzymes.
The discussion committee was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and the membership of Professor Dr. Muntaha Mahmoud Al-Qattan and lecturer, Dr. Mayada Ahmed Ibrahim, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Zahraa Ezzedine Dalal Bashi.
