Two seminars in the Department of Environmental Sciences, the first on fertilizers and how to develop them, and the second on the level of radioactive contamination in the vegetation cover.
Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and under the supervision and attendance of the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, and within the series of seminars for graduate students in the Department of Environmental Sciences, two seminars were held in the department on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in the college discussion hall. The first was given by master’s student Barda Abdul Qader entitled “The role of poultry waste in developing the next generation of super fertilizers as environmentally friendly agriculture”, and the second was given by master’s student Amna Qutaiba entitled “A study to improve the analysis of radioactive contamination levels in the wild vegetation cover of Nineveh Governorate as an indicator of environmental pollution”.
The first included methods of proper disposal of poultry waste and the production of sustainable fertilizer Super fertilizer using advanced technologies (nanotechnologies) and using the (Lethal Dose) experiment to find the optimal dose for use as fertilizer.
While the second seminar included assessing the levels of radioactive contamination in the vegetation cover and measuring and determining the levels of radioactive materials in the vegetation cover in different areas of Nineveh Governorate to identify the extent of the spread of radioactive contamination and its relationship to environmental pollution.
