Launch of the Second Scientific Symposium of the Department of Environmental Health on Human Rights and Sustainable Development.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and Professor Dr. Yassin Taha Al-Hajjar, President of Al-Noor University, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, the second scientific symposium of the Department of Environmental Health, entitled “The Human Right to a Healthy and Sustainable Environment,” began this morning, Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The symposium was held in cooperation with Al-Noor University and the Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency. The symposium will continue until Thursday, March 20, 2025.
It included several lectures explaining the penal frameworks for environmental pollution and formulating a healthy environmental policy in light of the Iraqi constitution. It also covered the relationship between environmental conservation and worship. It also covered clean agricultural methods for achieving sustainable development, methods for microbial analysis of plastics as a sustainable development tool, the role of healthy nutrition in achieving sustainable human health, and environmental management, as well as the role of cats in environmental pollution and the transmission of common diseases to humans.
