A workshop at the College of Environmental Sciences on drugs and their effects.

 

Under the patronage of Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Muthanna Jassim Muhammad Al-Taie, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the College of Education for Humanities, held a scientific workshop entitled “The Psychological and Social Effects of Drug Abuse on the Individual and Society.” The workshop was held this morning, Sunday, April 27, 2025, in the college’s discussion hall.

Professor Yasser Mahfouz Hamid, Head of the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, was our guest and delivered a valuable lecture, co-hosted by Assistant Professor Ahmed Abdul Atallah and Assistant Professor Salem Rabie Khalaf.

The lecture covered drug abuse, the causes of drug abuse, its psychological effects, including depression, anxiety, and violence, and its social effects. It also addressed prevention and treatment methods and the role of the family and community.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, promote prevention and treatment methods, and support the integration of recovering addicts into society.
