A faculty member from the College of Environmental Sciences participated in a doctoral dissertation discussion committee at the College of Education for Pure Sciences.

Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Shihab Al-Shaker participated in the discussion of a doctoral thesis at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, submitted by researcher Azhar Younis Reda Al-Assaf. The thesis was titled “Qualitative Evaluation of Khosr River Water and Its Impact on the Water of the Tigris River in Mosul City and its Biological Treatment Using Algae.” The discussion took place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The results indicated a relative increase in electrical conductivity, total hardness, sulfate, and dissolved oxygen levels before the river entered Mosul. Upon entering Mosul, a relative increase was found in biological oxygen demand, phosphate ions, total bacterial counts, and fecal coliform bacteria. This study fulfills one of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 4 (Quality Education).
