A seminar in the Department of Environmental Sciences focused on green hydrogen as a fuel for the future.

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, and with the attendance and follow-up of the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, a seminar was held in the Department of Environmental Sciences entitled “Green Hydrogen: The Fuel of the Future for Energy and Technology Transformation.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Rand Atbah Farqad, a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences at our college.
The seminar discussed the importance of green hydrogen as one of the most promising solutions for achieving the transition to clean and sustainable energy, its role in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing global energy security, and its role as a future fuel in the fields of transportation, industry, and energy storage.
The seminar also addressed methods for producing green hydrogen through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy sources.
The seminar achieved four of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
At the conclusion of the session, the floor was opened for discussion and contributions from faculty and students. The session was enriched with several important scientific observations that emphasized the importance of integrating green hydrogen technologies into Iraq’s sustainable development plans.
